 1 of 1
Something tells us that these elves may need to take a break from making toys...

The 'selfie', (self portrait), popularised by many a celebrity and the widespread use of Instagram, has been given a festive twist by those tinkering elves down at Center Parcs, Sherwood Forest.

The images celebrate the opening of the Winter Wonderland and Elf Academy at Center Parcs. At the Academy, children can enjoy making Christmas crafts, designing festive wreaths and decorating edible festive treats in preparation for the Elf Graduation Party where they will receive their very own graduation certificate and official elf outfit.

They are encouraging selfie-lovers of all ages to give their photos a festive twist, and tweet or Facebook their best 'elfies' using the hashtag #CPElfies. Here, we have been given Head Elf, Tinker's, top tips for capturing a memorable image...

·         Get the angle right – We all have a better side when being photographed,  so whether you’re showcasing your best elf outfit or pulling a funny face, show off your photography skills and your better side by taking your ‘elfie’ from an interesting angle

·         Lighting – This can make or break your ‘elfie.’ Harsh lighting can cast shadows on your face, so ensure you pick a setting with softer lighting to give your ‘elfie’ a warmer, more lifelike look.

·         Get ‘appy’ – Add some further festive colour to your ‘elfie’ by using the various IOS and Android apps on offer. Whether it’s a Christmas border, emoticons or even a filter, your ‘elfie’ will be instantly upgraded.

·         Have fun – A great ‘elfie’ is one that shows off your personality. Let loose and get into the festive spirit!

Submit your very own ‘elfies’ via Twitter (@CenterParcsUK ) and Facebook by using the hashtag, #CPElfie.

Family Christmas breaks at Center Parcs are available starting from £699 for four nights from 23 December, 2013.  Full Christmas dinners are served up in a wide range of family-friendly restaurants and there is a traditional Christmas pantomime.
